Key Takeaways:
  • It is important to step out of your current situation to think about where you want to be 5 years down the road because it is natural to change.
  • There are cracks in everything, but the cracks shine the light in.
  • People can't take the first step towards progress if they can't see the staircase.
  • Sometimes people don't move not because they are unwilling, but because it's an issue of clarity.
  • The most difficult tasks or projects can be overcome when they are chunked, broken down, an explained in small sections.
  • The "automatic skills" versus "learned strategies" discussion we have is very powerful and circles back to the idea of seeing the whole staircase.
  • You can take the person out of teaching, but not the teacher out of the person.
  • People need to know the systems and the processes to get those smaller wins.
